On the 3 November 1952, the Castellorizian Brotherhood appointed a Welfare Committee «η Επιτροπη Προνοιας Απορων Καστελλορι ζιον Διαμενοντων εις Καστελλοριζον» to raise funds to support the needy children on Castellorizo.
The Committee consisted of the following:
Maria Gouma (President), Nina Papacotis (nee Kakulas) (Secretary), Irene Raftopoulos (nee Hatzigeorgouras) and Elefantini Koutsoukos (Treasurers), Mary Leondis, Athena Gravas, Evangelia Agapitakis, Anastasia Tsakounis, Katina Penghlis and Rosa Pitsikas.
One of the first decisions was to hold a fundraising function at the Princes Restaurant on Tuesday 27 January 1953. The Princes Restaurant, located in Martin Place, was one of the most prestigious Restaurants in Sydney. Its Maître Di was Leo Leondis and many other Castellorizians worked there, including Jim Stavrianos, Tony Gemenis, John Malaxos, John Barthemes and Chris Alexiou.
